Thank you for this article. I have an online jewelry store that I recently started up and always do my best to get my supplies at or below wholesale so that I am able to keep my prices very low for my clients. I just opened this new store on Etsy June 18 and have found that a lot of sellers are really charging buyers a lot of money for completed items...and I find it hard to swallow...when I KNOW what the supplies truly cost. Now because of your article...I have even more sources to find great supplies...at low prices.
Thank you

[...] You might have better luck finding some deals on cheap jewelry supplies and beads at the national dollar store chains as opposed to the local mom and pop dollar stores. Some of the chains even offer bulk buying, so if you need a case of wooden beads or want 10,000 seed beads for next to nothing you may be able to buy them directly from the store! Buying this many beads at one time for such a low price almost feels as though you’re buying your jewelry beads wholesale! [...]

[...] There are lots of great ways to buy your discount jewelry supplies online, but one of the best ways to save money on jewelry supplies is to buy them in an online auction. An online auction allows you to purchase a lot of different beads and supplies at one time, usually for a price that’s similar or better than what you might pay when buying from wholesale jewelry suppliers.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the difference between "retailers" and "wholesalers." I am just starting out my "wholesale" jewelry supply company online and almost always buy my items "wholesale" or at the 200 level with Fire Mountain Gems. They have been great! But, I know that a lot of their products come from China and was just wondering other than digging through hundreds and thousands of Google sites for real wholesale beading companies, do you know of any in China or elsewhere that can beat Fire Mountain Gem prices or at least give a little more variety? I will continue ordering my products from FMG, but I was just curious if there are some other true wholesale companies out there. I did find one in China called www.beads-supply.com that is pretty reasonable in price, but the shipping is atrocious!!! Help!! Thank you. Michelle Brock

Laura.

If you buy any combination from 1 to 14 units or line items you are paying our highest price or our "retail" price. From there the more you buy to more discount you get. If people buy in large quanties all the time they should contact our customer service depart directly for other special programs we offer. We also have a $5 flat rate shipping program, so the more you buy the less it cost in shipping for additional items. Several people can combine their orders and save on prices and shipping at the same time.

Chuck,

Wow! Thank you for reading and replying to my post! Okay, so 15, 50 and 200 are the price breaks. But technically speaking you are selling your beading supplies and jewelry items at a "retail" price, not necessarily wholesale.... Right?

Don't get me wrong, Fire Mountain Gem prices are almost always competitive if not the lowest price around! :-)

Dear Laura,
I would like to suggest a correction to your article. Fire Mountain Gems and Beads has All-Assortable Pricing. The price you pay depends on the total number of pieces you buy, with price breaks at 15, 50 and 200 pieces, not the total number of pieces of an indidvidual item that you buy. In other words you can buy one each of 200 items or 200 of one item, to get the best price on all the items you are buying.

Thank you for including Fire Mountain Gems and Beads in your article.

Best regards,

Chuck Wolfmueller
